Good news for all digital creators out there! Adobe announced that their AI model, Firefly, is now officially safe for commercial use!
Firefly AI is designed to be accessible to both free and paid Creative Cloud users. As part of the release, Adobe has also introduced a new web application called Firefly, available for free and as part of the Creative Cloud paid plans. The web application, along with the software integration, provides users with a seamless experience and unlocks the full potential of Firefly AI.
To facilitate the use of Firefly AI, Adobe has introduced a new subscription plan centered around “generative credits” (GCs). Generative credits act as tokens that enable customers to transform text-based prompts into stunning images and vector creations in Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and the Firefly web application.
The introduction of generative AI has raised concerns about intellectual property and the potential misuse of AI-generated content. Adobe acknowledges these concerns and has taken steps to address them.
Firefly AI embeds Content Credentials by default in all generated works, acting as a digital “nutrition label” that displays important information about the asset, including its name, creation date, creation tool, and any edits made to it. These measures ensure transparency and accountability, aligning with Adobe’s commitment to ethical AI development.
According to the adobe website, it is stated that “As part of Adobe’s effort to design Firefly to be commercially safe, we are training our initial commercial Firefly model on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public domain content where copyright has expired.”
As part of the commercial release, Adobe has also introduced Express, an AI-first, all-in-one creativity app. Express is designed to generate commercially safe images and effects, catering to the needs of professionals across various industries. With Express, users can effortlessly create design elements, images, videos, PDFs, and animations in over 100 languages. The app also allows seamless integration with social media and publishing platforms, making it easier than ever to share and showcase creative work.
